For Frost

Walking along stoned path
the flavorful flowers make my cat laugh
overturned large plants
resting from the previous night's rain bath

Kicking my shoes off, walking bare on grass
the sun rising too fast
breathing in the new spring morning
as this too soon shall pass

My cat asks, from her rolling back
'fore the daffodils feel her attack
"why have we stopped?"
our paws far off the beaten track

Morning mist mostly hovering low; crisp air
stuck, i am frozen in thought, feet still bare
she moves on without me
sitting down i can feel her feline stare

She knows as well as i
the many miles yet to travel 'fore i may lie
close my eyes again to sleep
let us rest a spell under God's new pink turquoise sky
let us rest a spell under God's new pink turquoise sky
